Some Ends and Many Beginnings

New writer. New blog. Same Jacob.

Welcome! Welcome all!
You, my dear reader, have found your way to See Jacob Write.

It’s highly likely that you were once a faithful follower of The Bookshelf by Jacob and now you have reached this site, scratching your head, wondering what happened. The short explanation is that I have lost time and interested in reviewing books.

*audible gasp*

I know, I know. For a while there, I cranked out reviews every day. I read books, wrote reviews, read books, wrote reviews. Now, however, it appears time isn’t so friendly to me. Lately schoolwork and such has taken a toll on my reviewing abilities. Truthfully, reviewing books seems a little boring and little time-consuming to me right now.

But, I am still reading. Fear not, world, for Jacob Hopkins still loves books.

My love for books has grown so much that I’ve embarked on a new mission: to write a book of my own.

The main idea is that I’m beginning (or, rather, about to begin) writing a novel which is partially for a school project and mainly for my own benefit. For the full, technical details please see the “About” page at the top.

This blog will serve as a journal, a time log, an observation, and a photo album for my novel-writing process. All the triumphs and woes, captured in one (semi-)neat web log.

Fear not, longtime readers. The death of reviews has not and will not happen. Notice the subtitle to the blog? Adventures of an avid reader & beginning writer. I will always—always, I repeat—be an avid reader. If I ever read a really good book that tickles my imagination or shakes my guts, you can be certain that I’ll review it. The reviews will be just less . . . timely.

Reading and writing are the core of my being. I’m just fair in math. Just so-so in science. But in English…oh, English! This blog is a documentation of my journey to discover the power of words and communication.

Yes, I want to write one of these. How can I do that? Is there a special button I can press? Magical words I can say? Presto?!

Sometimes those words will come from reading and other times from writing. And, of course, from sharing, too. That is why this blog is called See Jacob Write. It’s a union of the different uses of words and how the world, specifically the beginning writer, is affected by them.

Look forward to several different types of writing: posts about my writing journey, both the happy kind and the not-so-happy, truthful kind; advice; photo essays; and interest pieces, which you may or may not find interesting.

Thank you for sticking around with me to experience the journey, he says, speaking to his millions of readers.

Thank you,
Jacob Hopkins
